York recorded their first National League victory of the season with a convincing 3-0 success over nine-man Southend.

The Minstermen were the only team to have not won after eight league games but they went ahead in the 26th minute thanks to a brilliant right-footed effort from 30 yards by left-back Thierry Latty-Fairweather.

Southend, who have won four matches and are at the foot of the table due to a 10-point deduction, were reduced to 10 men in the 74th minute when Harry Taylor was shown a red card for pulling back York striker Dipo Akinyemi on the edge of the area.

The hosts made the most of the numerical advantage with Maziar Kouhyar and Zanda Siziba putting the game out of sight with goals in the 74th and 76th minute.

Full-back Gus Scott-Morriss was then shown a straight red card with two minutes remaining to cap a miserable day for Southend.

Former Millwall defender Tony Craig’s first-half header clinched Dorking their first away win of the Vanarama National League season, 1-0 at Halifax.

Craig headed home his first goal for Dorking before half-time and the visitors turned in a disciplined defensive display as Halifax slipped to their second defeat of the season.

The hosts were twice denied in the first half by Dorking goalkeeper Harrison Male, who kept out goalbound efforts from Luke Summerfield and Adam Senior.

Jamie Stott headed just over for Halifax from a corner before Dorking scored their first goal in four matches to take a 34th-minute lead, with Craig heading home George Francomb’s cross.

Halifax pressed for an equaliser in the second half and Millenic Alli’s effort from outside the box was blocked and Rob Harker headed wide in the closing stages.

Fylde’s winless run continued with a 2-1 defeat to Eastleigh.

Jake Taylor gave Eastleigh the lead, tapping them ahead after 17 minutes.

And it went from bad to worse for Fylde, who have now collected just a point in their last six matches, as Alex Whitmore was shown a red card for an incident off the ball.

Paul McCallum doubled the Spitfires’ advantage just after half time, rebounding a shot from Scott Quigley.

An own-goal by Trent Rendall gave the hosts one back with 13 minutes to go, but it was too little too late for the home side.

Barnet were knocked off the top of the National League as they slipped to a 4-2 defeat at Rochdale.

Tyrese Sinclair ran on to Louie Moulden’s ball over the top and lifted his finish over Laurie Walker to give the hosts a 23rd-minute lead but Nicke Kabamba quickly headed Barnet level from a Dale Gorman cross.

Sinclair struck again in the 42nd minute, sweeping home his seventh goal of the season from Jesurun Uchegbulam’s low ball in.

Uchegbulam was involved in Dale’s third, too, playing in Adam Clayton, whose ball into the box was turned home from close range by Harvey Gilmour five minutes into the second half.

Kabamba made it 3-2 in the 67th minute, smashing the ball home from Harry Pritchard’s cutback, but the visitors could not find an equaliser and instead Rochdale wrapped up the points late on as substitute Ian Henderson provided the finish to a clinical counter-attack.

Ricky Korboa scored twice as Woking ended Hartlepool’s 100 per cent home record with a 2-0 victory.

Pools had the best first-half chance after 32 minutes when striker Mani Dieseruvwe hit a post and the ball fell to Joe Grey but he somehow cleared the crossbar from close in.

Woking scored twice in the early stages of the second half, with Korboa turning the ball home after some neat footwork for the opener before his tame effort from the edge of the area wrong-footed goalkeeper Pete Jameson and crept in.

Hartlepool tried to find a way back into the game without creating any clear-cut chances as opponents Woking moved above them in the National League table with a third game unbeaten on the road.

Barnet remained top of the Vanarama National League following a routine 3-0 victory over Altrincham.

Danny Collinge headed home a corner to put the Bees ahead after 10 minutes.

Laurie Walker then made a superb diving save to prevent an equaliser from Ollie Crankshaw.

Harry Pritchard saw his 32nd-minute penalty saved by Ethan Ross before Dale Gorman was inches away from doubling the advantage when his shot came back off the crossbar.

Zak Brunt did double the lead with 67 minutes gone when he curled home from the edge of the box and Nicke Kabamba wrapped it up three minutes into stoppage time.

Solihull Moors remain unbeaten in the National League this season but had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Woking.

The visitors took the lead in the 17th minute when Josh Kelly, who had earlier seen an effort chalked off by an offside flag, was played through on goal and made no mistake.

Woking were handed a golden chance to equalise only four minutes later when Ricky Korboa was brought down by Tommy Simkin but the goalkeeper made immediate amends by saving Padraig Amond’s penalty.

Moors were then unable to take advantage of an indirect free-kick in the six-yard box and Amond got his goal nine minutes into the second half to earn the hosts a point.

York claimed a point in Neal Ardley’s first game in charge but were twice pegged back by Boreham Wood in a 2-2 National League draw.

The Minstermen have made a poor start to the National League season and parted company with former manager Michael Morton last month.

Ardley would have been delighted to see Dipo Akinyemi put the hosts ahead after only 21 minutes following great work from Ryan Fallowfield.

But Lee Ndlovu levelled in the 57th minute and, although Quevin Castro put York back in front five minutes later, Ndlovu’s second in the 66th minute denied the struggling home side a first league win of the campaign.

Michael Cheek scored twice as Bromley thrashed Maidenhead 4-1 in the Vanarama National League.

Cheek put the hosts ahead in the 18th minute and he went on to grab his brace six minutes before the break.

Sam Woods then made it 3-0 in first-half stoppage time as Bromley began to run away with it.

The domination only continued in the early stages of the second half, with Louis Dennis making it four in the 48th minute.

Maidenhead were able to secure a consolation through Chanka Zimba after 53 minutes but Bromley ran out comfortable winners.

A second-half brace from Tahvon Campbell inspired Wealdstone to a 2-1 victory over Ebbsfleet in the Vanarama National League.

Stones had won only twice prior to Saturday’s fixture but responded well to Josh Wright’s 66th-minute leveller for the visitors to clinch all three points at Grosvenor Vale.

Sweltering heat in England meant drinks breaks occurred and – despite the high temperatures – there were chances aplenty during the first 45 minutes in London, but it remained goalless until Campbell broke the deadlock in the 64th minute.

Former Millwall and Charlton midfielder Wright immediately levelled for Ebbsfleet, but Campbell had the final say on proceedings when he was fouled in the area by Chris Solly.

Solly received his marching orders and Rochdale loanee Campbell slotted home the resulting penalty from 12 yards to earn Wealdstone an impressive victory.

The hosts were also down to 10 men at the death as Micah Obiero was shown a second yellow card for a bad foul.

Dorking manager Marc White was sent off in their goalless draw with Oldham at Boundary Park in the Vanarama National League.

White received his marching orders in the 16th minute after kicking the ball away.

Oldham captain Liam Hogan headed in from a corner but the goal was disallowed for a foul and just before the break Nathan Sheron fired wide after latching onto a rebound from Dan Ward’s fierce drive.

The Latics, winless in five, had another chance as the hour approached when James Norwood’s glancing header went wide and in stoppage time Kurt Willoughby fired over from a corner.

Chesterfield scored twice in the closing stages to earn a 3-1 comeback victory over 10-man Dagenham.

Both sides started well, with a big chance coming for Dagenham’s Ryan Hill, who was denied by Harry Tyrer.

Dagenham’s Josh Rees broke the deadlock five minutes before half-time, poking home a cross.

The visitors then wilted after Harry Phipps was shown a red card for pulling back Will Grigg in the 69th minute.

Ryan Colclough equalised for the home side three minutes after the dismissal before Grigg scored a 90th-minute penalty.

Ollie Banks then completed the victory by scoring Chesterfield’s third in stoppage time.

Aldershot ended a run of two successive defeats with a comfortable 2-0 National League victory over Fylde at Mill Farm.

Fylde almost took a 16th-minute lead but Jack Bycroft denied Luke Charman with a superb reaction save and the goalkeeper was again sharp to turn away Siya Ligendza’s effort.

The deadlock was finally broken after 69 minutes when Kwame Thomas played in Ryan Glover and his left-footed effort nestled in the bottom corner of the net.

Ligendza thought he had equalised 10 minutes later but his effort was ruled out for offside before Tyler Frost rifled home from 25 yards to wrap up victory for the Shots.

Marcus Dinanga scored twice as Gateshead thrashed Eastleigh 6-0 in their Vanarama National League match at Silverlake Stadium.

The visitors, making a 640-mile round trip from Tyneside, took the lead in the 17th minute when captain Greg Olley drilled a low shot past Eastleigh goalkeeper Joe McDonnell.

Dinanga soon doubled Gateshead’s advantage after latching onto Olley’s pass in the 25th minute and Jordan Hunter added a third six minutes before the break.

Dinanga got his second in stoppage time at the end of the first half after breaking onto a pass from Stephen Wearne, who curled home Gateshead’s fifth goal from the edge of the area in the 66th minute.

Substitute Billy Chadwick completed the route with 14 minutes left, scoring his first goal for the Heed since arriving on loan from Stockport.

Oxford City fought back from a half-time deficit to stun promotion-chasing Hartlepool with a 5-2 win in the Vanarama National League.

Hartlepool boss John Askey had voiced his concerns over City’s artificial surface in the build-up to Saturday’s match and watched his side get blown away in the second half.

Goals by Joe Grey and Callum Cooke had Hartlepool ahead at the break, despite Oliver Sanderson scoring for hosts City.

Canice Carroll started the comeback with a 62nd-minute leveller, which sparked a period of three goals in seven minutes.

John Ashby put Ross Jenkins’ National League new boys in front before substitute Pierre Fonkeu struck a brace to earn City a memorable second win since promotion.
