National League leaders Chesterfield survived a first-half scare before beating Wealdstone 3-2 to record a sixth straight win.

The visitors, without an away league victory since March, took a shock 34th-minute lead when left-back Jaydn Mundle-Smith’s low cross was turned in by Kyle Smith at the far post.

But the leaders equalised seven minutes into the second half when James Berry pounced on a defensive error to fire home.

Liam Mandeville made it 2-1 in the 66th minute, sliding home after Berry’s cross fell to him six yards out, and the rampant Spireites scored again two minutes later through a fine individual effort from Michael Jacobs.

Sean Adarkwa grabbed a consolation six minutes into stoppage time for Wealdstone.

Hartlepool returned to winning ways in the National League by beating Dagenham 1-0 at Victoria Road.

Moments after Sydney Ibie blazed over a decent opportunity for Dagenham, the visitors took the lead just before the half-hour mark when Sam Ling diverted Oliver Finney’s delivery into his own net.

Pools goalkeeper Peter Jameson then saved from Ibie and Harry Phipps either side of the break before Ryan Hill shot wide for Daggers with five minutes left.

Dagenham pushed hard for the equaliser and Jameson produced a stunning save to deny Omar Mussa in stoppage time.

Hartlepool held on to post a first victory in four games while Dagenham’s winless run stretched to four.

Two Paul McCallum headers helped Eastleigh come from behind to win 2-1 at home to Kidderminster.

McCallum struck twice in the first half following Gerry McDonagh’s early penalty against his old club.

The game kicked off 15 minutes late after Kidderminster were delayed arriving, but the visitors, who have won just once in the National League this season, needed little time to get going as they went in front after eight minutes.

McDonagh was brought down in the area and the former Eastleigh forward stepped up to fire home the resulting penalty.

McCallum equalised midway through the first half, meeting Chris Maguire’s corner at the near post.

And he struck again well into six minutes of added time at the end of the first half by heading home a fine left-wing cross from Oscar Rutherford.

Eastleigh had chances to move further clear in the second half, none better than when Maguire rounded goalkeeper Christian Dibble in added time but a scramble on the goal-line ensued before the ball was hacked clear.

Oldham made it back-to-back wins under interim boss Steve Thompson with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over promoted Oxford City at Boundary Park.

Thompson took over from the sacked David Unsworth last weekend and helped Latics claim their first win in eight matches with a midweek victory over York, lifting them out of the relegation zone.

And Oldham, one of the sides tipped to make a promotion challenge this season, picked up another win on Saturday thanks to a brace from Brennan Dickenson and goals from Devarn Green and James Norwood.

Green opened the scoring in the 15th minute after making the most of a fine through-ball from Dan Gardner and Dickenson drilled home an unstoppable long-range shot to double the lead in the 40th minute.

Oxford, who had been unbeaten in seven matches since losing their opening three games, had no answer and veteran striker Norwood and Dickenson added gloss to the win in second-half stoppage time.

Norwood slotted home immediately after Oxford goalkeeper Chris Haigh had twice performed heroics before Dickenson produced another superb finish to find the top corner from a free-kick.

Marcus Dinanga continued his prolific start to the season with two goals as high-flying Gateshead defeated Maidenhead 3-0.

Dinanga made it nine goals in 11 National League games this term with his match-winning brace as Gateshead climbed up to fourth spot.

Maidenhead, who have now lost four on the trot, almost took an early lead through Tobi Sho-Silva, who was denied when clean through by Archie Mair, but it was Gateshead who took control after that.

Greg Olley drew a brilliant save out of visiting keeper Craig Ross in the 25th minute and Stephen Wearne saw his curling effort rattle a post just before half-time as the hosts searched for the opener.

That finally arrived in the 68th minute when Dinanga got on the end of Wearne’s cross to head home via the crossbar.

Dinanga then ensured the points would be staying up north with 10 minutes remaining when he slotted home from inside the box.

The 25-year-old forward was almost celebrating his hat-trick in stoppage time, seeing a header ruled out for offside before then being denied by Ross.

However, Gateshead did manage to add a third as Ed Francis pounced on the rebound following that late Ross save to complete the scoring.

Altrincham hammered Ebbsfleet 6-1 for a first win in six National League matches.

Alex Newby scored just four minutes into his Altrincham debut and Lewis Baines doubled their lead inside the first quarter-hour.

Mark Cousins brilliantly saved Chris Conn-Clarke’s free-kick but the hosts soon had a third as Justin Donawa went through and fired past Cousins.

Nathan Odokonyero pulled one back but Conn-Clarke slotted home to make it 4-1 at half-time.

Ebbsfleet improved after the break, with substitute Ben Chapman clipping the crossbar while Ethan Ross saved Craig Tanner’s penalty, but second goals for Conn-Clarke and Baines in seven minutes of added time rubbed salt into their wounds.

Third-placed Barnet were grateful to keeper Laurie Walker as they were held to a goalless draw by FC Halifax Town in the National League.

Idris Kanu headed just wide for Barnet but the first half was otherwise uneventful until five minutes before the break. Jo Cummings was brought down in the box but Walker saved Jamie Stott’s penalty.

Walker denied Jamie Cooke just before the hour while substitute Reece Hall-Johnson went close at the other end.

Barnet substitute Callum Stead was denied after a length-of-the-field break while Walker made a late double save from Halifax’s Ryan Galvin to preserve a point.

Fylde secured their first win in eight National League games after beating bottom-placed Southend 2-1.

Taylor O’Kane gave Fylde the lead just two minutes into the game with a free header from a corner and Gold Omotayo nearly doubled the advantage but fired wide.

Southend were forced to make a goal-line clearance from Jonathan Ustabasi’s shot and Jack Wood had a chance for the Shrimpers saved by Theo Richardson, but Harry Cardwell levelled for Southend in the 56th minute, beating the goalkeeper in a one-on-one.

Ustabasi then netted the winner for the visitors just 12 minutes later.

Solihull Moors lost ground on National League leaders Chesterfield after a 1-1 draw at home to Bromley.

Bromley goalkeeper Grant Smith made a good save early on to deny Josh Kelly’s low strike.

Bromley then took the lead when Kido Taylor-Hart found Ben Krauhaus, who fired home in the 47th minute.

Kade Craig levelled for Solihull 11 minutes later, tucking the ball into the bottom-left corner, but a point left Moors five behind Chesterfield, who beat Wealdstone.

Josh Stokes was on target again as Aldershot won 2-1 at struggling Boreham Wood.

Stokes was released by Cian Harries’ through-ball five minutes before half-time and he slotted past goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore to score his sixth goal since joining the club this summer.

Jordi van Stappershoef kept Aldershot’s lead intact with a fine save to deny half-time substitute Angelo Balanta.

And Haji Mnoga added a second for the visitors in the 55th minute when he was allowed to stride forward with the ball before picking out the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Balanta scored on the hour mark following a corner but the hosts could not force a comeback as their winless home run extended to five games.

Ryan Fallowfield’s winner eight minutes into added time secured a dramatic 2-1 victory for York away at Woking in the Vanarama National League.

Padraig Amond had a great chance to give Woking the lead in the 20th minute after racing onto Zak Bradshaw’s pass but he hit the post when one-on-one with Ryan Whitley.

The visitors opened the scoring moments later when Lenell John-Lewis’ long-range effort took a huge deflection and looped in over William Jaaskelainen.

Ricky Korboa equalised for Woking just before the hour mark from close range after reacting quickest to Whitley’s double save from Amond.

John-Lewis went close to restoring York’s lead but he hit the bar with a header and the follow-up from Dan Batty was well saved by Jaaskelainen.

Korboa was also denied by the woodwork for the hosts in the 75th minute with a curling effort which struck the crossbar and post.

There was more drama to come as Josh Casey remarkably headed Paddy McLaughlin’s shot off the line but the ball bounced off the post and into the path of Fallowfield, who tucked home from a yard out.

Dorking made it back-to-back wins in the National League with a 3-1 success against Wealdstone.

James McShane gave Dorking a 12th-minute lead, tapping in from a yard after a cross by Seb Bowerman, who was the provider again for the second which was headed home in the 28th minute by a diving Jason Prior.

Josh Taylor made it three nine minutes before the break from Tom Blair’s cross to put the hosts in a completely dominant position.

Wealdstone pulled one back just before the hour mark when a free-kick was not cleared and Sam Bowen hammered home but, though Sean Adarkwa and Nathan Ferguson threatened, there was no way back.

Joe Quigley’s stoppage-time goal gave leaders Chesterfield a dramatic 3-2 win over FC Halifax in the National League.

Will Grigg had put the hosts ahead early on and Tyrone Williams headed in a second in the 23rd minute before Millenic Alli pulled one back three minutes later.

Luke Summerfield equalised from the penalty spot with 21 minutes left and the Spireites then had Tom Naylor sent off following a second yellow card.

But Jack Senior saw red for Halifax in the 87th minute before Quigley burst through at the death to win it.

Joe Grey stepped off the bench to score his third goal of the season and earn Hartlepool a 2-2 draw at Altrincham.

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when Oliver Finney chipped the ball over home goalkeeper Ethan Ross and into the net.

Altrincham hit back eight minutes later, with Isaac Marriott firing in from close range.

And the home side went in front just before the break as Lewis Baines hammered home in first-half stoppage time.

Hartlepool substitute Grey levelled things up 14 minutes after coming on, slotting home in the 76th minute to earn his side a point.

Woking extended their unbeaten run to six games in the Vanarama National League but were forced to settle for a point from a 1-1 draw at home to Ebbsfleet.

Jim Kellerman fired Woking into a 42nd-minute lead from the penalty spot after Ricky Korboa was fouled by Darren McQueen in the box.

Woking striker Padraig Amond had spurned a pair of early chances and came close again early in the second half when his effort was tipped over the bar by Ebbsfleet goalkeeper Mark Cousins.

Looking to end a run of two straight defeats, the visitors responded well and hauled themselves level just before the hour mark when Ouss Cisse was on hand to bundle home a Craig Tanner corner.
