Paul McCallum scored twice as Eastleigh staged a remarkable comeback to draw 3-3 with Barnet in the Vanarama National League.

The Bees looked certain to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season as they surged into a 3-0 lead after just 30 minutes.

Idris Kanu tapped in at the far post to get the ball rolling after 15 minutes and four minutes later it was two as Danny Collinge headed in his third goal of the season.

Kanu’s second looked to have wrapped the points up on the half-hour mark before McCallum got Eastleigh back in it on the stroke of half-time with a cool finish after a counter-attack.

Scott Quigley made the Bees sweat midway through the second half and McCallum earned a point seven minutes into stoppage time when he headed home.

Dorking came from a goal down to earn their first win of the Vanarama National League season with a 2-1 victory over Southend.

The Shrimpers opened the scoring in the third minute when Harry Caldwell tucked the ball home from close range following a counter-attack from the away side.

The hosts levelled things up just before the half-time break when Ryan Seager took advantage of some loose possession at the back and slotted in to make it 1-1.

Dorking turned the game around with 11 minutes to go as the ball was put back across goal, with Jason Prior on hand to head home to put them in front.

Southend pushed in search for an equaliser and some late pressure ended with Jack Wood’s effort going straight to Harrison Male.

Barnet made it two wins from two at the start of the new Vanarama National League season with a 2-0 victory over Bromley at Hayes Lane.

Danny Collinge and Nicke Kabamba struck for the second successive game as Barnet followed up their opening win over Hartlepool to join leading duo Southend and Chesterfield on six points.

In a battle between two teams who reached the play-offs last season, Barnet drew first blood in the 25th minute when Collinge stabbed the ball into the bottom corner after an inswinging Ben Coker free-kick had fallen to him in the box – the goal awarded despite claims of handball.

Barnet would have made it 2-0 moments later but for a fantastic save from Grant Smith, who flung himself to his right to somehow keep out Kabamba’s close-range shot.

Another moment of Bromley brilliance, this time at the other end of the pitch, then almost produced a 37th-minute equaliser as Corey Whitely’s blistering 35-yard piledriver crashed back off the crossbar with Laurie Walker well beaten.

Barnet survived that let-off and went on to secure the points in the 64th minute when Zak Brunt pounced on a defensive mistake to tee up Kabamba, who slid the ball through Smith’s legs to leave Bromley propping up the table.

Matty Warburton struck twice for Solihull as they secured their first National League win of the season, 2-1 at newly-promoted Ebbsfleet.

Warburton struck in either half to put Solihull in control and after Ebbsflett’s Greg Cundle had pulled one back, the home side went close to a late equaliser through Shaq Coulthirst’s effort which hit the crossbar.

Solihull went close in the first half when Joe Newton fired a shot against a post before Warburton headed home Jay Benn’s 39th-minute cross.

Visiting goalkeeper Tommy Simkin made a brilliant save to keep out Omari Sterling-James before Warburton struck his second after pouncing on a rebound.

Cundle set up a grandstand finish when he cut in from the right and rifled home a superb low finish but Solihull held on as Coulthirst’s effort from substitute Nathan Odokonyero’s cross was unable to find the target.

Chesterfield continued their early-season goal spree by brushing aside Vanarama National League opponents AFC Fylde 4-2 at Mill Farm.

A week after hitting four against Dorking, the Spireites had a second successive win wrapped up by half-time.

Tyrone Williams set them on their way with a sixth-minute effort, then Liam Mandeville, who scored twice in the victory over Dorking, made it 2-0 before Will Grigg added a third before the interval.

It was damage limitation for Fylde in the second period, but any small hope of sparking a fightback were extinguished when Ryan Colclough netted Chesterfield’s fourth after 49 minutes.

To their credit, Fylde did not fold and late goals from Jonathan Ustabasi and Harry Davis gave the scoreline a degree of respectability, although Davis was sent off in the sixth minute of added time for a second bookable offence.

Ian Henderson netted a second-half winner as Rochdale picked up their first win of the season with a 1-0 National League victory at Oxford City.

The game went into half-time goalless, but not without a few chances, when Henderson had an effort cleared off the line, midway through the half.

Chances continued to come, but neither side were able to make a breakthrough as Kairo Mitchell headed a free-kick from Adam Clayton towards goal, but it was not enough to break the deadlock.

The Dale eventually opened the scoring after 71 minutes through crowd favourite Henderson, who slotted the ball home from six yards to score in his 10th season for the club, in his second spell.

Maidenhead inflicted a second straight defeat of the National League season on Dorking by winning 2-0 at Meadowbank.

An indisciplined first-half performance by Dorking saw three players – Jason Prior, Tony Craig and Matt Briggs – booked in the space of four minutes.

But after a scoreless opening half, Maidenhead took charge during the second period and went ahead through Shawn McCoulsky’s goal after 61 minutes.

There were still some anxious moments for the visitors, though, with Zico Asare being sent off on receipt of a second yellow card.

However, Maidenhead kept their composure and Ashley Nathaniel-George’s late goal wrapped things up.

Regan Linney was on target twice as Altrincham claimed their first win of the season after coming from behind to beat Woking 3-2.

The forward opened the scoring for the visitors in the sixth minute with a low drive but Scott Cuthbert cancelled out the lead, converting a Nana Boateng free-kick 10 minutes later.

Reece Grego-Cox’s header put the Cardinals into the lead just before the half-hour and this time it was their turn to endure a quick response as Matthew Kosylo levelled in the 38th minute.

Linney would have the last say, however, as his goal two minutes into the second half settled the contest.

Southend made it two wins from two matches at the start of the Vanarama National League as Harry Cardwell and substitute Oli Coker helped the Shrimpers beat Dagenham 2-0.

It was a spirited start from the visiting Southend as they took the lead in the 19th minute when Jack Bridge’s low cross was turned in by Cardwell, who also scored in last week’s 4-0 win over Oldham.

Cardwell might have had his and Southend’s second soon after but his header was saved before the rebound was spectacularly cleared off the line by Dagenham defender Tom Eastman.

Noor Husin saw his effort whistle just wide in the second half as Southend continued to put Dagenham, who opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw at Altrincham last week, under pressure.

But it was not until the second minute of added-on time that they made sure of all three points. For the second time in two games, Coker came off the bench to score, curling home from just outside the box.

Kwesi Appiah and Jamal Fyfield lifted Boreham Wood to their first Vanarama National League win of the season as they saw off Halifax 2-0.

Appiah had the first real chance on the half hour but the Ghanaian’s shot straight at Halifax goalkeeper Sam Johnson, who did well to keep out Fyfield’s header from the resulting corner.

But the hosts were grateful for Nathan Ashmore, who produced excellent saves to deny Jack Evans and Millenic Alli before half-time as Halifax looked to build on a season-opening win over Bromley.

They trailed after 54 minutes when Appiah got on the end of Tom Whelan’s free-kick to head home as Bromley, who battled back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Gateshead last week, took the lead.

Eight minutes later, Halifax made a hash of attempting to clear a corner and Fyfield slotted home to make sure of all three points for the Wood.

Amari Morgan-Smith’s late winner earned Kidderminster a 1-0 National League win at York.

Morgan-Smith pounced in the 83rd minute at the LNER Community Stadium to head the ball in off the bar following a Joe Leesley corner.

The visitors had the better of the first-half chances, Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain heading just wide at the far post from Caleb Richards’ left-wing cross and York goalkeeper David Stockdale beating away a fierce effort from Morgan-Smith, who spun and shot after finding space in the area.

Adam Crookes headed narrowly wide from a Maziar Kouhyar at the other end before Kidderminster missed a golden chance on the stroke of half-time.

Morgan-Smith cut the ball back for Zak Brown, who looked set to score, only for Levi Andoh to deflect his shot behind.

The visitors finally broke the deadlock when York failed to clear a Leesley corner and Morgan-Smith forced the ball past Stockdale and over the line via the underside of the bar.

Kouhyar brought a good save from Christian Dibble as York sought a leveller, but it did not come and they slumped to a second straight defeat.

Mani Dieseruvwe struck twice on his debut for 10-man Hartlepool, including a last-minute winner, as they beat National League rivals Gateshead 2-1 at the Suit Direct Stadium.

Dieseruvwe, signed from FC Halifax in July, gave Pools an ideal start with an early opener and popped up with a last-gasp winner after Robbie Tinkler had levelled for Gateshead in the second half.

Pools played most of the second half with 10 men after striker Josh Umerah was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Tinkler.

Charlie Seaman provided the assist for Dieseruvwe to give Hartlepool a 10th-minute lead and goalkeeper Joel Dixon ensured they went in 1-0 up at the break with a fine save to deny Ed Francis.

Umerah saw red for a rash tackle and although Tinkler hauled the visitors level in the 66th minute, Dieseruvwe notched his second from close range in the dying moments.

Eastleigh are still searching for their first Vanarama National League win of the season but were fortunate to walk away with a point in a goalless draw at home to Wealdstone.

Both sides created chances, with Wealdstone starting especially well as Ashley Charles’ looping header forced Eastleigh goalkeeper Joe McDonnell into action.

Alex Dyer then thumped over from the edge of the box while at the other end, Jed Ward had to get down low to keep out Lee Hodson’s rasping effort from distance before the interval.

Micah Obiero spurned a glorious chance after shooting straight at McDonnell when given space in the area while the shot-stopper was alert to a ricochet off one of his defenders from a corner.

Chris Maguire struck for the Spitfires but the goal was chalked off for offside while Obiero almost won it at the death for Wealdstone but his strike was tipped away by the excellent McDonnell.

James Norwood and Brennan Dickenson both scored twice in a thumping 5-1 win for Oldham against Aldershot.

Norwood opened the scoring midway through the first half, netting his first goal for the club from six yards.

Dickenson doubled the home side’s lead with a fierce 30-yard strike and Oldham’s domination continued as Ben Tollitt made it three.

Aldershot pulled one back in the 74th minute through an own goal from Mark Kitching.

But this turned out to be mere consolation after Norwood grabbed his second of the game shortly after Kwame Thomas had been sent off for the Shots for a second yellow card.

Dickenson made it five late on with his second of the afternoon to cap a fine display.

Rochdale’s first league match outside the English Football League for 102 years ended in an unceremonious 1-0 home defeat to Ebbsfleet.

Luke O’Neill’s brilliant strike in the first half was enough for Fleet to take the points in the National League opener at Spotland.

The full-back met Toby Edser’s corner with an audacious near-post flick that sailed into the far corner.

Rochdale almost got back into it as Kairo Mitchell thundered an effort against the crossbar, but Ebbsfleet also hit the woodwork at the death through Billy Clifford.
