Josh Rees plundered a second-half hat-trick as Dagenham crushed National League basement-boys Oxford City 7-1.

Rees had already gone close when Ryan Hill ran on to Inih Effiong’s pull-back and blasted the ball past goalkeeper Marcin Brzozowski to give the home side a fifth-minute lead.

Daggers had to wait until nine minutes before the break to extend their advantage when Frank Vincent found the top corner with a stunning strike, and Effiong matched his accuracy with a curled stoppage-time effort to send them in at the break, 3-0 to the good.

Effiong doubled his tally within 40 seconds of the restart with his 14th goal of the season and although Jacob Roddy swiftly reduced the deficit, Rees made it 5-1 with just five minutes of the second half played.

Rees helped himself to an acrobatic second and completed his treble with eight minutes remaining to round off a fine afternoon as Dagenham moved up four places to 11th.

Altrincham boosted their promotion push with a 3-0 win over Rochdale which moved them up to fourth in the National League.

The hosts opened the scoring just before half-time when Rochdale goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks reacted well to deny Eddy Jones, but managed only to push the ball into the path of Justin Amaluzor to apply the finish.

Altrincham then took complete control with two goals in as many minutes midway through the second half.

Chris Conn-Clarke played in Regan Linney to get the first, and the Northern Irishman then got on the scoresheet himself seconds later, set up by Isaac Marriott.

AFC Fylde stepped up their National League survival fight as they held on for a much-needed 2-1 win over Eastleigh at the Silverlake Stadium.

Josh Kay and Nick Haughton scored either side of half-time to get the visitors off to a flying start in their bid to claim a third-straight win.

Scott Quigley had an effort disallowed for the hosts – who went into the game without a win in seven – before Ben Reeves reduced the deficit with a powerful drive after a through-ball was only half-cleared by Fylde goalkeeper Theo Richardson.

But Richardson preserved his side’s three priceless points at the start of added time when he tipped a Jake Taylor header over the crossbar as the Spitfires pushed for an equaliser.

Erico Sousa’s first-half penalty was enough to earn Boreham Wood a 1-0 win over Maidenhead as they moved above their opponents in the National League.

Sousa sent Craig Ross the wrong way from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute to earn three points which lift Boreham Wood up to 13th.

Kabongo Tshimanga had put the ball in the net for the hosts with 15 minutes gone, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

Shawn McCoulsky went close to equalising for Maidenhead in the 84th minute, but was denied by a fine save from Nathan Ashmore.

Lenell John-Lewis pounced with a late winner to get York’s National League campaign back on track and hand Southend a third successive loss at Roots Hall.

John-Lewis followed up an initial effort from Callum Howe to poke home in the 89th minute and snatch the visitors a first win in three against the run of play.

York started well with Dipo Akimyemi denied an early chance and Ben Davies hitting the post after errors in the home defence.

But Southend pressed after the break with York keeper Gus Sykes-Kenworthy pulling off a great stop to deny Adam Crowther, before Crowther missed another good chance in the closing stages.

Chesterfield saw a seven-game National League winning streak come to an end as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Ebbsfleet.

The visitors shocked the runaway league leaders when they took a first-minute lead through Rakish Bingham, but Chesterfield were level through Will Grigg just before the half-hour mark, with the former Northern Ireland striker able to chest home Liam Mandeville’s cross.

Moments later they were ahead as Jeff King dribbled his way through to the edge of the box, and though his shot was blocked on the line, Armando Dobra was there to poke home on the rebound.

Ben Chapman levelled early in the second half as Chesterfield appealed in vain for offside, and it ended all square at the SMH Group Stadium.

Gateshead midfielder Luke Hannant scored a penalty deep into added time to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Eastleigh.

The hosts’ mini-recovery appeared to have come to a shuddering halt after back-to-back wins as they were behind with the additional five minutes already played.

However, they were saved by the award of a spot-kick which Hannant converted in the seventh extra minute.

Eastleigh had taken the lead nine minutes after half-time with Dutchman Enzio Boldewijn curling home a superb effort from the left corner of the penalty area.

The concession of the late equaliser extended their run of games without a win to nine, stretching back to December 23, and leaves them seven points off the bottom four.

Woking eased to a 2-0 win at home to Oxford City to boost their survival hopes and leave their visitors rooted to the foot of the National League.

The bottom two clashed at Kingfield Stadium, where a Jayden Luker strike and Lewis Walker’s penalty secured victory for the hosts.

Luton loanee Luker opened the scoring with his first senior goal, beating a defender on the edge of the penalty area before firing home.

Walker tucked home from the spot on the hour-mark after Ricky Korboa had been tripped, with the win taking the Cards up to 20th place, one point above the relegation zone, with Oxford City six points from safety.

Ashley Nathaniel-George hit the only goal of the game as Maidenhead beat 10-man Wealdstone in a midtable Vanarama National League clash.

Both sides will still be eyeing a late run at the play-offs but it was the visitors who came out on top with a 1-0 win at Grosvenor Vale on Tuesday night.

An even first half came to a close with Wealdstone reduced to 10 men as Jack Cook picked up a second yellow card just three minutes from the interval.

Nathaniel-George then had a sighter as he shot straight at Marcus Dewhurst before curling home from the edge of the box to earn the points 14 minutes before the close.

National League leaders Chesterfield extended their advantage at the top to 22 points with a 2-1 victory at Dagenham & Redbridge.

The Spireites, who have lost just once in the league since Nov 21, registered an 11th away win of the season to move within one of equalling the club record set in 1994-95.

James Berry put them ahead in the 31st minute with his fourth goal in the last five matches when he smashed home the loose ball after a save rebounded to him.

Fifteenth-placed Dagenham have the second-worst home record in the division but were given hope when 10 minutes after half-time Josh Rees released winger Ryan Hill who scored with a low shot into the corner.

However, with 16 minutes to go Armando Dobra poked home from a matter of inches while lying on the floor in a goalmouth scramble to leave Chesterfield requiring another 22 points from a remaining 45 on offer to make it mathematically impossible to be caught at the top.

Solihull Moors boosted their National League play-off push with a 3-1 win at fading Halifax.

Alex Whitmore put Moors ahead in the 24th minute with a looping header from Matty Warburton’s corner, and Callum Maycock turned in Mark Beck’s flick five minutes later.

The hosts’ first half went from bad to worse as they lost Angelo Cappello to injury and they fell further behind just before the hour mark when Ryan Galvin’s foul allowed Jack Stevens to tuck away a penalty.

Cappello’s replacement Jack Jenkins missed from close range before Town scored with a penalty of their own, Luke Summerfield converting after keeper Nick Hayes fouled Jack Evans.

Max Wright shot wide and Hayes saved from Jamie Cooke, who then hit the bar as Solihull secured an eighth away win of the season.

Oldham dropped out of the play-off places as they were held to a goalless draw at struggling Ebbsfleet in the Vanarama National League.

Oldham goalkeeper Mathew Hudson was in form, making saves to deny Omari Sterling-James, Rakish Bingham and Toby Edser.

Edser also shot wide and Dominic Poleon went close as Ebbsfleet applied further pressure in the second half.

At the other end, Mark Cousins kept out an effort from James Norwood and Mike Fondop shot wide late on.

Corie Andrews salvaged a dramatic point for Wealdstone in the final minute of second-half stoppage time in their 1-1 draw at Barnet.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Ben Coker sent the ball across the face of goal, where Callum Stead tapped home.

Barnet won an 80th-minute penalty but Harry Pritchard could not find the finishing touch as his spot-kick was saved by Marcus Dewhurst.

Andrews left it late but secured all three points for the Stones when he tapped the ball past January signing Josh Keeley, who had come off his line and watched as the ball rolled past him and into the back of the Bees net.

Angelo Balanta scored the only goal as 10-man Boreham Wood held on for a 1-0 victory at Woking in the Vanarama National League.

Balanta fired home after Chris Bush had headed across goal in the 14th minute.

Woking rallied after Lee Ndlovu was sent off just before the interval following a clash with Dion Kelly-Evans.

Jayden Luker, Lewis Walker, Max Dyche and Ricky Korboa all had chances but could not beat Nathan Ashmore in the Boreham Wood goal.

Chesterfield continued their seemingly unstoppable march towards promotion back into the Football League with a 3-1 victory at 10-man Eastleigh.

The Spireites extended their lead at the top of the Vanarama National League to 19 points after claiming a sixth successive victory.

James Berry opened the scoring in the 38th minute after combining with Will Grigg before Eastleigh suffered a major setback when Paul McCallum – the division’s leading scorer – was sent off on the stroke of half-time.

Late goals from Liam Mandeville and Grigg then secured a 25th league win of the campaign for the runaway leaders.

Armando Dobra set up Mandeville to make it 2-0 in the 84th minute before Grigg struck two minutes later.

Eastleigh grabbed a consolation goal deep into added time through Chris Maguire’s penalty but the points were long since gone.
