Calabar High School’s Junior Gallimore was the fastest in the semi-finals of the Class One Boys 200m on day four of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships at the National Stadium in Kingston on Friday.
Gallimore was one of four athletes to dip below 21 seconds in the semi-finals with a new personal best 20.72.
William Knibb’s Sanjay Seymour was second fastest with 20.75, also a personal best, to win his semi-final.
Edwin Allen’s Antonio Powell, who won the Under-20 Boys 200m at the CARIFTA Trials, was third fastest with 21.11 while 100m silver medallist Tyreece Foreman of St. George’s College also made it through with 20.85.
St. Catherine High’s Ian Barker (20.98), KC’s Markel Smith (21.16), Vere Technical’s Omar James (21.04) and Cornwall College’s Zachary Cox (21.06) round out the field for Saturday’s final.
JC’s Malique Dennis was fastest in the Class Two semis with 21.45 ahead of 100m silver medallist Jaydon Collins of Holmwood Technical (21.58) and 400m gold medallist Jason Pitter of KC (21.74).
Petersfield’s Usain Bernard (21.49), Campion College’s Nasir McMorris (21.63), Petersfield’s Shadane Lewis (21.84), KC’s Azriel Allen (21.72) and Calabar’s Ronaldo Francis (21.81) also made it through the semis.
The St. Jago High pair of 100m silver medallist Jevaney Findlay (21.82) and bronze medallist Rajuan Romelly (22.27) led the qualifiers in Class Three.
KC’s Emmile Higgins was third fastest with 22.35 while Rusea’s High’s Tiene Barrett (22.13) was fourth fastest.
The field will also include KC’s Andre Genus (22.63), JC’s Tyler Morgan (22.77), Calabar’s Justin McKoy (22.68) and William Knibb’s Lynford McKenzie (22.70).
