KC wins two out of three 4x100m finals; Calabar disqualified in Class One

Continuing their march towards a fourth consecutive ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships title, Kingston College secured gold medals in two of the three 4x100m finals on Saturday evening at the National Stadium in Kingston.

KC initially crossed the line second in Class One in 39.78 behind Calabar’s 39.45 before the latter were subsequently disqualified for a late exchange from the first to the second leg.

Excelsior High were upgraded to silver with 39.83 with Jamaica College finishing third in 40.00.

The Class Two final saw KC needing no disqualifications to win gold, finishing in 40.62 ahead of Calabar (40.90) and JC (40.93).

St. Jago won the Class Three final in 42.57 ahead of Calabar (42.95) and KC (43.08).

In the field, Calabar’s Kamari Kennedy produced a meet record to win the Class Two boys discus in 61.46m. Munro College’s Javontae Smith threw 56.01m in second while St. Catherine High’s Adrian Daley threw 52.84m in third.

JC’s Chavez Penn cleared 2.08m to win the Class One boys high jump ahead of Herbert Morrison’s Santino Distin (2.05m) and KC’s Tejahni Haynes (2.05m).

KC’s Despiro Wray took gold in the Class One shot put with 18.96m ahead of Munro College’s Devonte Edwards (18.71m) and Cornwall College’s Mar-Lando Farquharson (18.32m).

At the time of publishing, KC led the points standings with 248 points after 38 out of 42 events. Calabar were second with 213.25 points while JC were third with 174 points.
