Kingston Cricket Club and St. Mary Cricket Association maintained their perfect records so far in this season’s Michael Holding Senior Cup with outright wins over St. Thomas CA and St. Ann CA, respectively.
Kingston hammered St. Thomas by an innings and 122 runs at Sabina Park. They made 286-6 declared in 49.3 overs in their first innings thanks to 98 and 97 from openers Romaine Morris and Javaughn Buchanan.
St. Thomas, batting a man short throughout both innings, were then dismissed for scores of 58 in 22 overs and 88 in 17.4 overs.
Captain Akim Fraser starred in the first innings with 4-21 from his eight overs of off-spin while left-arm spinner William Stewart took 3-23 off six overs in the first innings and 3-34 from eight overs in the second.
Pacer Carlton Green led the bowling in the second innings with 4-6 from 3.4 overs.
The other match in Zone D saw the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) defeat Boys Town by 10 wickets at Collie Smith Drive.
Batting first after losing the toss, JDF posted 289-7 in their first innings thanks to 92 from Carl Reid, 63* from Sheldon Cottrell and 56 from Kevin Daley.
Left-arm wrist spinner Dennis Bulli (3-28) and pacer Garnet Smith (3-36) then combined for six wickets to help dismiss boys Town for just 115 in 28.3 overs in their first innings.
They had a better showing in their second innings, posting 186 all out in 46 overs thanks to 69 from Stephan Pink and 42 from Dantae Clarke.
Off-spinner Tevin Gilzene took 5-66 from his 15 second innings overs.
JDF then reached 13-0 in one over to seal the win.
Kingston lead the Zone with 18 points after three rounds while JDF are second on 12. Boys Town are third with six while St. Thomas have zero in fourth.
Elsewhere, St. Mary CA are now three from three themselves after a dominant innings and 13-run win over St. Ann at the Port Rhoades Sports Club.
St. Ann had a good showing with the bat in their first innings, posting 273 all out in 59.1 overs thanks to a 51-ball 109 from Amoi Campbell including 13 sixes and four fours. Nafrass Earl also chipped in with 67 at the top of the order.
Off-spinner Marlon Byfield took 5-37 from 13.1 overs.
St. Mary then set themselves up for the win with a mammoth 401-9 declared in 93.2 overs in their first innings. Opener Zendai Williams led the way with 151 off 215 balls including 13 fours and five sixes while captain Alwyn Williams (72) and Aan Ennis (71) also hit fifties.
Captain Sashane Anderson took 4-92 from 22 overs.
St. Ann were then dismissed for 115 in 30.1 overs in their second innings.
Pacer Gihon Murdock led the second innings bowling onslaught with 6-24 from 10.1 overs.
The other Zone C game saw Portland take first innings points against GC Foster College to move to six points in third, one behind St. Ann in second and 12 behind St. Mary in first.
