Calabar High’s Shaquane Gordon outdueled Kingston College’s Daniel Clarke to claim gold in the Class One Boys 110m hurdles final on day five of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships at the National Stadium in Kingston on Saturday.
Gordon avenged his defeat to Clarke at the CARIFTA Trials earlier this season with 13.52 to take the win.
Clarke was just behind in second in 13.54 while JC’s Shakir Lewis took bronze in 13.85.
Interestingly, Gordon, Clarke and KC’s Rayvon Walkin were all disqualified retroactively for false starts in yesterday’s semi-finals before being reinstated.
KC’s Jonathan Clarke got gold and nine big points in Class Two with a determined 13.63 to win ahead of St. Jago High’s Marquies Page took silver in 13.71 while JC’s Christian Wallace took bronze in 13.84.
Calabar took a maximum 16 points in the Class Three 100m hurdles through Ronaldino Barnett and Jordan McBean.
Barnett took gold with a record 12.92 while McBean took silver in 13.10.
KC’s Jhaidon Dawkins took bronze in 13.38.
At the end of the hurdles races, Calabar cut into KC's lead atop the points standings, trimming it from 21.5 at the start of the day to 14.5.
