Nicholas Kirton was reportedly taken into custody by Barbados police shortly after arriving at Grantley Adams International Airport on Sunday.
It is unclear why Kirton, the captain of Canada’s cricket team, was detained, but reports indicate that the investigation is in relation to a drug-related incident.
The 26-year-old Barbadian previously played for the West Indies Under-19s and Barbados before migrating to Canada. Over the years, he has also represented the Combined Campuses and Colleges, Jamaica Tallawahs, Montreal Tigers, and Toronto Nationals.
