Four-time defending female champion Aliana McMaster and defending champion Craig Simpson are ready to defend their Proven David East Memorial Sporting Clays titles on Sunday.

The tournament—the first of the Jamaica Skeet Club (JSC) 2025 season—is scheduled for a 9:30am start at the picturesque Murphy Hill Estate overlooking Ocho Rios.

Simpson, who bagged top spot last year after a tense shoot-off with McMaster, is looking for his fourth hold on the title but will have some of the country’s best shooters to contend with in a field of 150 set to engage the 17-station course.

They include the 2023 winner and six-time national shotgun champion Shaun Barnes, five-time national shotgun champion Christian Sasso, and nine-time national shotgun champion and JSC president Ian Banks.

Chad Ziadie, the current national shotgun champion, along with Nick Benjamin, Ray McMaster, and some very good juniors, will also be on the course to challenge for a place on the podium.

Meanwhile, McMaster, who shot 95 before being beaten by Simpson in a shoot-off last year, headlines the female field, which includes her mother, many-time national shotgun champion Wendy McMaster—the only other female to win the Proven Shoot.

Former national shotgun champion Marguerite Harris, as well as Renee Rickhi, Lori-Ann Harris, and Toni Barnes, are also expected to line up. The shooters will compete in various classes from A to E, Juniors, Sub-Juniors, Ladies and Hunters or beginners.

The course setters have promised an array of targets, such as true pairs, rabbits, and others, comparable to international standards, to ensure an entertaining and competitive event.

Proceeds from the tournament will be used for the Driftwood Gun Club’s charities, which are focused mainly on early childhood educational institutions in the Treasure Beach area of St. Elizabeth.
