Jamaica Rifle Association President Rohan Wilson praised the nation’s practical pistol shooters following their impressive showing at the Florida State Championship over the weekend.

The Jamaicans rubbed shoulders with more than 200 international participants at the championship renowned for its challenging courses and high level of competition, and they delivered standout performances across multiple divisions much to Wilson’s delight.

“Our shooters continue to excel on the international stage, representing Jamaica with skill, discipline, and sportsmanship. These results are a testament to their hard work and dedication, as well as the growing strength of practical shooting in Jamaica,” Wilson said.

Darin Richards shone in the Limited Division, as he secured third place overall and further cementing his reputation as a top competitor at the event, which again lived up to its reputation, pushing participants to their limits in accuracy and speed.

In the Production Division, Rohan Wallace claimed a commendable second-place finish, while Florence Golding, Jamaica’s sole female representative, showcased her prowess with an 11th-place finish in the same division.

The Open Division featured Dudley Brown, who placed 56th against a field of highly skilled marksmen, while the Carry Optics Division had the largest contingent of Jamaican shooters. Christopher Nunez claimed second place in the Senior Category, and D John Nelson earned third place in the D Class.

Other Jamaican competitors included Arjun McPherson, Ronald Richards, Paul Shoucair, and Pierre Chin, who finished 62nd, 64th, 78th, and 96th, respectively, in the overall standings.

Wilson pointed out that the Jamaica Rifle Association remains committed to elevating the nation’s profile in practical shooting as they now look ahead to future international competitions, including World Shoot 2025 in South Africa.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the USA Extreme Open 2025, which will take place in Florida from January 28 to February 1. Over 50 competitors and range officials are set to depart the island later this week to participate in the prestigious event.
