Sunil Narine’s all-round brilliance propelled his Kolkata Knight Riders to a dominant eight-wicket win over the Chennai Super Kings in TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) action at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday.

The defending champions restricted the Super Kings to a subpar 103-9 from their 20 overs after winning the toss and opting to bowl.

Only Shivam Dube with 31* and Vijay Shankar with 29 offered much resistance against a brilliant bowling display for the Knight Riders led by the Trinidadian mystery spinner.

Narine picked up three wickets while conceding only 13 runs in his four overs. He was well supported by pacer Harshit Rana and fellow spinner Varun Chakaravarthy who took 2-16 and 2-22, respectively.

KKR then needed only 10.1 overs to reach 107-2 and secure the win, handing CSK their fifth-straight loss.

Narine was, once again, the mastermind of KKR’s success with an 18-ball 44 including two fours and five sixes.

Quinton de Kock and captain Ajinkya Rahane also chipped in with 23 and 20*.
