Jason Holder had a man of the match performance in his Pakistan Super League debut to help Islamabad United open this year’s edition with an eight-wicket win over defending champions Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Islamabad United restricted the Qalandars to 139 all out in 19.2 overs after winning the toss and choosing to field.
Abdullah Shafique led the way with 66 while Sikandar Raza made 23 against Holder’s excellent 4-26 off his four overs on debut in the competition.
Holder was well supported by skipper Shadab Khan who finished with 3-25 from his 3.2 overs of leg spin.
New Zealander Colin Munro then anchored the successful Islamabad chase with 59* off 42 balls as his side needed only 17.4 overs to reach 143-2.
He was well supported by Salman Agha who finished not out on 41.
