Mike Evans expressed his delight at Tom Brady becoming the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' starting quarterback, with the receiver describing the signing as "surreal".

Three-time Pro Bowler Evans will be catching passes from the man many consider to be the greatest of all time next season after Brady confirmed on Friday that Tampa Bay was his next destination.

Brady won six Super Bowls across a successful 20-year run in New England, while Evans, a first-round pick in 2014, has not yet played in a post-season game for a Bucs team without a playoff appearance in 12 seasons.

However, in a live stream for the game Fortnite, Evans sounded upbeat about the possibility of that drought ending now Brady is on board.

"It's surreal, he's going to be my quarterback, bro," Evans said.

"I've played six years in the NFL and I haven't been to the playoffs yet.

"Tom Brady has won six Super Bowls."

The 26-year-old added: "Bro, I've been on that Hennessy, man.

"I'm drinking, I got Tom Brady, you know what I'm saying?"

Despite Tampa Bay's collective struggles, Evans has been a huge success with the Bucs.

He has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first half a dozen campaigns in the league - a feat only Randy Moss, a former favourite target of Brady, has also achieved.

Evans has a franchise-record 48 receiving touchdowns, too.
