Cayman Islands golf sensation Justin Hastings is embracing the spotlight as he prepares for the biggest week of his young career at the US Masters, which he views the prestigious tournament not just as a proving ground but as a pivotal springboard toward his professional ambitions.
The 21-year-old, who tees off at Augusta National from April 10-13, will become only the second Caymanian in history to compete at the Masters. For Hastings, the moment is deeply personal and nationally symbolic.
"I wake up every day and really pinch myself that I get to do this. Not only for me and the people around me, but for an entire nation. I’m super grateful to have grown up in Cayman, and I take unbelievably tremendous pride in wearing that flag," he told Compass.

Hastings enters the tournament with quiet confidence, focused on making the cut and competing for the low-amateur trophy. Yet, he’s equally eager to soak up the once-in-a-lifetime atmosphere at Augusta—a rite of passage for golf’s elite.
"I am super excited. I’ve been putting in the work, and I am ready to get to Augusta," he declared.
While many might be daunted by the prospect of sharing the fairways with the likes of defending champion Scottie Scheffler, world number two Rory McIlroy, and even childhood idol Phil Mickelson, Hastings is unfazed.
"We are all out there playing the golf course. Obviously, there are big names that people tend to be intimidated by, and that’s cool. That’s what makes these tournaments so great. But I’m excited that my name is going to be up there next to theirs," Hastings said.

Hastings has already shown he belongs among the best. His 13th-place finish at the Mexico Open turned heads, both for his composure under pressure and his ability to perform on the big stage.
"Making that cut and showing myself what I can do is huge, and it provides a lot of belief for this next week," he shared.
With both the US Open and The Open Championship already penciled in for later this year, Hastings is poised for a breakout season, especially as his college golf chapter at San Diego State University nears its close and his transition to the professional ranks beckons.
"I will be turning pro soon after the Masters. It’s still up in the air as to how long we’ll be waiting until I do that. I think a lot of things need to unfold before I can make that final decision, but that is the plan," Hastings revealed.
