Greaves’ 124* puts Hurricanes in dominant position over Pride at stumps on day two

Justin Greaves got his second hundred of this West Indies Championship season to put his Leeward Islands Hurricanes in a dominant position at stumps on day two of their final round fixture against the Barbados Pride at Warner Park.

The Hurricanes began Thursday’s action 270-5 in 90 overs in their first innings with Greaves and Jahmar Hamilton at the crease on 49 and 28, respectively.

The Leewards went on to post 444-9 in 133.4 overs before declaring their innings closed.

Greaves went on to finish 124* off 261 balls including nine fours while Hamilton fell 16 runs shy of his hundred.

Daniel Doram also chipped in with a valuable 35 off 73 balls.

Jomel Warrican was excellent with his left-arm spin on the way to figures of 7-111 from 38.4 overs.

The Pride got up to 153-5 in 37 overs at stumps, trailing by 291 runs.

Kevin Wickham ended the day 55* off 90 balls including eight fours with Matthew Forde alongside him on 21*.

Kyle Mayers earlier made a 29-ball 33 including five fours and a six. Oshane Thomas and Justin Greaves have taken two wickets, apiece, for the Hurricanes so far.
