Kingston College (KC) head coach Damion McLean and St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) head coach Anthony Bennett are reveling in their teams’ impressive victories as they claimed the ISSA all-island junior football titles on Tuesday.

The Corporate Area champions once again demonstrated the immense potential with lopsided 3-0 and 7-0 beating of their rural counterparts Glenmuir High and Manning’s School, respectively, at Glenmuir High.

Kingston College, led by a hat-trick from Javaun Buckridge, swept aside Glenmuir 3-0 in the Burger King Under-14 final. The prolific striker found the net in the 28th, 45th, and 70+1 to secure another crown for the North Street-based school.

Reflecting on the win, McLean said preparation was key.

“Going into this game, we were prepared for it. We tried and got it right this time because in the preseason, they gave us a 4-0 beating. So we came back into this game to enjoy ourselves and execute, and that we did,” he said.

In the Mighty Malt Under-16 final, STATHS delivered a stunning 7-0 rout of two-time rural champions Manning’s School. Shankeno Grant and Christiana Brown both scored braces, while D’Mari Gouldbourne, Kirk King, and Tarance Hall each added to the scoreline.

STATHS quickly took control of the game with three goals in just five minutes midway through the first half. Gouldbourne opened the scoring in the 25th minute, Grant followed with his first in the 29th, and King struck in the 30th.

Grant completed his double in the 52nd minute, while Hall added a fifth in the 73rd, and Brown sealed the victory with goals in the 75th and 80+2.

For Bennett, the victory was a historic moment for the school.

“It is a really special feeling. We have been practicing all season for this. It is a trophy the school has never won before. So we are grateful for this one,” Bennett declared.

The triumphant teams were also rewarded with Burger King vouchers for every goal scored, with KC earning $33,000 worth of vouchers and STATHS walking away with $77,000.
