Former West Indies Under-19 captain Kimani Melius is back in the Windward Islands Volcanoes squad for the final two rounds of the West Indies Championship.
The St. Lucian had been left out of the squad for the first five rounds of the season, fueling uproar in the St. Lucian cricketing community.
After being awarded captaincy last year, Melius was dropped after a prolonged lean run of scores which was then followed by injuries slowing his attempts to get back into the side.
In 15 First Class matches, Melius has hit 617 runs at an average of 21.27, with three 50s and one hundred, since making his debut as an 18-year-old against Barbados in 2019.
Melius is replacing Stephan Pascal, who has also captained the regional Under-19 side.
The other change to the squad is at the wicketkeeper position with Noelle Leo replacing Jervin Benjamin.
The Windwards will take on Barbados in round six at the Daren Sammy Stadium beginning on April 2 before ending their season against the West Indies Academy beginning on April 9 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
Full squad: Alick Athanaze (Captain), Sunil Ambris (Vice Captain), Kenneth Dember, Noelle Leo, Darel Cyrus, Shadrack Descarte, Johnnel Eugene, Keon Gaston, Kavem Hodge, Kimani Melius, Ryan John, Jeremy Solozano, Gilon Tyson.
