The Mumbai Indians Women secured a four-wicket win over defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore Women in a tense Women’s Premier League encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday.

RCB Women posted 167-7 from their 20 overs after being put in to bat by Indians skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.

Australian Ellyse Perry starred with 81 off 43 balls including 11 fours and two sixes while Richa Ghosh and captain Smriti Mandhana contributed 28 and 26, respectively.

Amanjot Kaur took 3-22 from three overs to lead the way with the ball for Mumbai while Shabnim Ismail, Hayley Matthews, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Sanskriti Gupta each took a wicket.

Skipper Harmanpreet then led the way with 50 off 38 balls as the Indians needed 19.5 overs to reach 170-6 and secure their second win in a row.

Sciver-Brunt provided excellent support for Kaur with 42 off just 21 balls while the hero of the day, Amanjot Kaur, finished 34* off 27 balls to lead her side to victory, taking home the player of the match award in the process.

Hayley Matthews contributed a 10-ball 15 at the top of the order while 16-year-old G Kamalini hit 11* off eight balls including the winning runs.

Leg-spinner Georgia Wareham took 3-21 from her four overs to lead the fight for RCB.
