Nicholas Pooran got his second fifty in as many games as the Lucknow Super Giants secured a dominant five-wicket win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad in TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) action at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The Trinidadian left-hander, batting at number three, hit six fours and six sixes in his knock to help the Super Giants comfortably chase down 190, reaching 193-5 in just 16.1 overs.

Pooran, who hit 75 off 30 in LSG's season opener against the Delhi Capitals on Tuesday, laid the foundation for the successful chase alongside Mitchell Marsh after they lost Marsh’s opening partner, Aiden Markram, for just one in the second over.

Marsh and Pooran added 116 for the second wicket before Pooran fell in the ninth over.

Marsh went on to be the second-highest scorer with 52 off 31 balls including seven fours and two sixes.

Mitchell Marsh hit 52 off 31 balls.

Abdul Samad (22* off eight balls) and David Miller (13*) were the batsmen that took LSG over the line in the end, giving them their first win of the season.

Earlier, on a pitch that has become accustomed to scores over 200 over the years, LSG bowled well to restrict SRH to 190-9 from their 20 overs.

Travis Head led the way with 47 off 28 balls at the top of the order while Aniket Verma and Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed well with 36 off 13 balls and 32 off 28 balls, respectively. Verma’s knock included five sixes.

Pacer Shardul Thakur was excellent with the ball with 4-34 from his four overs.

The Super Giants will next take on the Punjab Kings on Tuesday in Lucknow while the Sunrisers will face the Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.
