Jamaica's young karate talents made their mark at the Central Caribbean Cup and Training Camp in Panama, with Rasandre Evans and Andrew Evans claiming podium finishes at the respected regional event.

Rasandre delivered a stellar performance to capture gold in the Cadet Kumite -57kg division while demonstrating precision, discipline, and maturity beyond his years. His victory capped off a strong showing by Team Jamaica and marked a major highlight of the competition.

Meanwhile, Andrew Evans battled his way to a well-earned bronze medal in the U12 -35kg category, adding to the team’s medal tally.

The event, hosted by the Panama Karate Federation in partnership with Centro Caribe Sport brought together top talent from across the region for both high-level competition and valuable developmental training.

Jamaica sent a nine-member team and reached six medal rounds, finishing the campaign with one gold and one bronze. Despite narrowly missing out on further medals, the performances signalled strong progress for the national program.

In a statement shared on social media, Jamaica Karate extended its appreciation to the organizers, noting:

“The bar has been set very high! This was an incredible event and development opportunity. Thank you to the Panama Karate Federation and Centro Caribe Sport.”

As the team returns home, the focus now shifts to building on this success and preparing the next wave of karateka to represent the island with pride on the regional and international stage.
