KC’s Clarke, Calabar’s Gordon set for exciting clash in Class One Boys 110m hurdles final

Kingston College’s Daniel Clarke and Calabar High’s Shaquane Gordon set up what should be one of the more exciting individual battles of this year’s ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships by safely making it through to the final of the Class One 110m hurdles on Friday.

Clarke, the season leader in the event with his 13.06 done to defeat Gordon at the CARIFTA Trials, advanced with an excellent 13.08, the second-fastest time ever at Champs, to win semi-final one ahead of St. Jago’s Romario Jibbison (13.69).

Gordon took the second semi-final in a personal best 13.11 ahead of KC’s Rayvon Walkin (13.54). JC’s Shakir Lewis (13.63) and Port Antonio High’s Jason Miller (14.01) also made it through from that heat.

St. Jago’s Brandon Harris took the third semi-final in 13.56 ahead of JC’s Daniel Beckford (13.78).

The qualifiers for the Class Two final were led by KC’s Jonathan Clarke (13.52) followed by Calabar’s Kemarley Fletcher (13.62), St. Jago’s Marquies Page (13.57) and JC’s Christian Wallace (13.67).

St. Jago’s Raneil Burke (13.77), William Knibb’s O’Shea Johnson (13.96), Calabar’s Divondrae Matthews (13.72) and Vere Technical’s Shawn Palmer (13.81) complete the field.

Calabar look set for a quinella in Class Three 100m hurdles through Ronaldino Barnett (12.90) and Jordan McBean (13.05).

The rest of the qualifiers for Saturday’s final were STETHS’ De-Shawn Johnson (13.20), St. Jago’s Jaun Tae Halliman (13.24), St. George’s College’s Taishawn Reynolds (13.28), St. Mary’s College’s Khejaun Seabourne (13.38), KC’s Jhaidon Dawkins (13.59) and JC’s Gianni Perry (13.75).
