Atkinson wins second breaststroke bronze at FINA Champions Series
Alia Atkinson won a bronze medal time in the 100m breaststroke at the FINA Champions Series on Tuesday, following up in the bronze she won in the 50m breaststroke on Monday.
In doing so, she won another US$6000 for her efforts.
Atkinson, 31, who is preparing to compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan in July, came home on 1:08.15 finishing behind hometown girl Yu Jingyao (1:07.59) and winner Martina Carraro of Italy (1:06.85).
Carraro, who also won the 50m breaststroke, will leave Shenzhen, China with US$20,000.
Atkinson’s time was her third-fastest ever in January. Only her times of 1:07.38 and 1:07.47 have been faster.
She will swim next in Beijing, China at the Ying Dong Swimming Natatorium from January 18-19.
