St. Catherine Cricket Club took over sole leadership of Zone F of the 2025 Michael Holding Senior Cup thanks to a dominant innings and 231-run win over Kingston & St. Andrew Cricket Association in their round four encounter at Chedwin Park in St. Catherine over the weekend.
After winning the toss and opting to field on Saturday. St. Catherine dismissed KSACA for a paltry 102 in 22.3 overs with only Kedar Brown providing any resistance with 47 off just 22 balls including three fours and five sixes.
Left-arm wrist spinner Vitel Lawes took 3-16 from 4.3 overs while off-spinner Ralique Thomas and pacer Windel Bailey took 3-33 and 3-29, respectively.
St. Catherine then made a massive 524 all out in 63.2 overs in their turn at the crease.
Former West Indies Under-19 captain Ramaal Lewis led the charge with 165 off just 88 balls including 11 fours and 13 sixes while Marlon Williams and Kennar Lewis hit 143 and 135, respectively.
Williams’ knock lasted 162 balls and included 16 fours while Lewis hit 10 fours and 11 sixes during his 60-ball innings.
Medium pacer Conroy Goss took 5-63 from 9.2 overs while Kedar Brown took 3-82 from his 13 overs of medium pace.
Bailey and Lawes then combined for nine wickets to dismiss KSACA for 191 in 38.2 overs in their second innings.
Captain Albert Rose made 57 while Brown hit 37 as Bailey took 5-58 from 13 overs and Lawes 4-88 from 12.2.
St. Catherine now have 16 points from four games, one point more than second-placed Melbourne Cricket Club who took first innings points from the University of the West Indies (UWI) at the UWI Mona Bowl.
Melbourne dismissed UWI for 230 in 64 overs after winning the toss and choosing to field first.
Kishawn Graham led the scoring with an 84-bal 70 including 10 fours while captain Steven Wedderburn made 66 off 137 balls.
Leg-spinner Matthew Comerie took 4-69 from 19 overs while left-arm seamer Khari Campbell picked up 3-46 from 17 overs.
Melbourne then got up to 288-7 in 52 overs before declaring on Sunday in an effort to secure an outright win to maintain the lead in the group.
Kymani Wilson hit a 103-ball 91 to lead the scoring with David Bird hitting 59 off 88 balls in support. Renalda Ingram and Jose Northover also made valuable contributions with 42 and 36, respectively, while Chadwick Walton also chipped in with 31.
KevAundrae Virgo took 4-57 from 11 overs to lead the UWI bowling effort.
In the end, UWI reached 130-5 in 43 overs in their second innings when proceedings came to an end.
Kyle Thompson made 40 while Wedderburn finished 38*. Off-spinner Warren Robinson took 3-27 from his 11 overs in the second innings.
