Jamaica’s rich swimming legacy will be on display once again as Olympian Sabrina Lyn gears up to compete at the prestigious NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Centre in Seattle.

The  Louisiana State University (LSU) representative's NCAA journey will kick off on Wednesday as a key member of their 200-yard medley relay team, which made waves at the recent SEC Championships, where they established a new school record of 1:36.51. She will return to the water on Thursday for the 200-yard freestyle relay and continue her campaign on Friday in the 400-yard medley relay, as part of another record-breaking squad that clocked an impressive 3:30.73 at SECs.

Lyn, 20, will wrap up her NCAA debut in the 400-yard freestyle relay on the final day of competition.

By competing at the NCAA Championships—regarded as one of the toughest collegiate meets in the world—Lyn joins an elite group of Jamaican women who have made their mark on this stage, including Alia Atkinson (Texas A&M), Natasha Moodie (Michigan), and Breanna Roman (Auburn).

At LSU, Lyn has the privilege of training under assistant coach Leah Martindale-Stancil from Barbados, who made history at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics as the first Carifta, Caribbean, and CCCAN woman to reach the 50m freestyle final.

Lyn won’t be the only Caribbean talent in action—she will be joined by the Cayman Islands’ Jillian Crooks of the University of Tennessee, who will compete in the 50-yard freestyle and several relays. Crooks, notably, has Jamaican roots, adding to the strong regional representation at the meet.
