Hady Habib became the first Lebanese player - male or female - to win a grand slam main-draw match during the Open Era.

Hady Habib revelled in "one of the best days of my career" following his historic victory at the Australian Open.

The world number 219 became the first Lebanese player - male or female - to win a grand slam main-draw match during the Open Era.

Habib, who won three qualifying matches to book his place in the main draw, delighted the fans on court 13 as he defeated China's Bu Yunchaokete in straight sets.

The 26-year-old held up a Lebanese flag after prevailing 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 7-6 (8-6), setting up a second-round clash with 14th seed Ugo Humbert.

"This is probably one of the best days of my career, honestly," Habib told reporters during his post-match press conference.

"It's such an incredible feeling to get this win not only for myself, but for Lebanon and Lebanese tennis.

"As you guys could see there, the crowd was absolutely wild. It made it even more special to win in front of them."
