The Los Angeles Rams suffered a huge blow when Robert Woods tore his anterior cruciate ligament on Friday.

ESPN's Adam Schefter and Dianna Russini reported that Woods sustained the serious injury in practice on the day Odell Beckham Jr. joined the 7-2 Rams.

Woods was reportedly able to finish the session, but the extent of the damage done was revealed when he underwent tests.

Team captain Woods will play no part in the rest of the season as the Rams bid for Super Bowl glory.

Woods made 45 receptions for 556 yards and scored four touchdowns this season.

Beckham's arrival means he, Cooper Kupp and Van Jefferson will likely see the bulk of the targets from quarterback Matthew Stafford in Woods' absence.

Woods had told the media on Friday: "We're all working for the same goal. His thing is, I feel like, why he [Beckham] left -- he wanted to be a part of it and contribute, and I think just coming into this offense, he wants to work and contribute.

"We're all working toward the same goal: winning, grinding. I don't think it should be anything disruptive.''

The Rams' next game is against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday.
