The 2025 PFL World Tournament kicked off Thursday night at Universal Studios in Orlando, featuring the opening-round matchups in the welterweight and featherweight divisions.
In the main event, Jamaican former Bellator welterweight champion Jason Jackson submitted Andrey Koreshkov to advance to the semifinals.
The first round was a back and forth battle with Jackson getting the better of most of the exchanges, constantly pressing forward and looking to take the fight to the ground.
He had a submission attempt after he got him to the ground early in the second round but the Russian fought it off.
After they got back up, Jackson got another takedown and proceeded to land some vicious ground and pound before an accidental elbow to the back of Koreshkov’s head forced referee Keith Peterson to call timeout.
The restart saw Jackson press forward again and take Koreshkov right back down before eventually putting him to sleep with a rear-naked choke at the 4:21 mark of the second round.
Jackson will face Thad Jean in June with a spot in the 170-pound final on the line.
