Bahamian freshman Valdez “VJ” Edgecombe Jr produced a double-double to lead the Baylor Bears to a 14-point win over the Kansas State Wildcats in the second round of the 2025 Big 12 Tournament at the Spirit Center in Kansas City on Wednesday.

The Bears (19-13, 10-10 Big 12) ended the first half with a 9-0 run to enter the break with a comfortable 41-24 advantage. Kansas State (16-17, 9-11 Big 12) had a dismal offensive showing in the field in the first half, hitting just one of their 12 attempts from beyond the three-point line.

The Wildcats had a slightly better showing in the second half, however, closing the gap to 58-46 with eight minutes remaining before the Bears produced another run to seal the victory.

Edgecombe hit seven of his 15 shot attempts to finish with 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bears while Norchad Omier scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.

Jayden Nunn also had an excellent game off the bench with 18 points on 7-10 shooting from the field.

David N’Guessan had 20 points and 10 rebounds for Kansas State.

Baylor, the seventh seed in the tournament, will next face the second-seeded Texas Tech Red Raiders in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
