Jamaican sprint hurdler Briana Campbell is set to continue her collegiate career at the University of Clemson in the Fall of 2025, following a sensational season representing Life University in Georgia. The former St Jago High standout and CARIFTA Games silver medallist in the sprint hurdles has established herself as one of the brightest stars in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Campbell has delivered a series of eye-catching performances in both indoor and outdoor competition this year, highlighted by her record-breaking run of 13.25 seconds in the 100m hurdles at the Emory Dooley Elite Meet in Atlanta. That performance broke the NAIA record previously held by fellow Jamaican Salieci Myles (13.28) and earned Campbell the NAIA Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award.

Earlier in the season, Campbell also rewrote the NAIA indoor record books, clocking 8.09 seconds to win the 60m hurdles at the NAIA Indoor Championships, adding the indoor national title to her growing list of accolades. She also earned NAIA Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honours in early February after a standout showing at the Clemson Bob Pollock Invitational, where she won her heat in the 200m (24.11) and clocked 8.18 in the 60m hurdles semi-finals.

Campbell’s transition to Clemson marks a significant step forward in her athletic career. She currently ranks first in the NAIA in the 100m hurdles, second in the 200m with a season-best wind-legal time of 23.64 seconds, and leads the 100m dash with 11.49 seconds—all signs of her growing dominance across sprint disciplines.

Clemson’s elite program in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) will offer Campbell an elevated platform for continued development as she takes aim at higher NCAA Division I competition and, potentially, senior international representation for Jamaica.

Campbell, who claimed silver in the U20 Girls 100m hurdles at the 2024 CARIFTA Games, has come into her own at the collegiate level, building on the foundation laid at St Jago High—long known for producing world-class sprint talent.

Her commitment to Clemson is not only a testament to her current success but also a vote of confidence in her trajectory as one of Jamaica’s next top hurdles prospects. With national records, championship titles, and a relentless competitive spirit already under her belt, Briana Campbell is ready to rise even higher.
