Edgecombe’s 18 points lead Baylor Bears to three-point win over TCU Horned Frogs in penultimate game of regular season

Bahamian freshman VJ Edgecombe recorded 18 points to help his Baylor Bears to a 61-58 win over the TCU Horned Frogs in Fort Worth, Texas on Tuesday in their penultimate game of this NCAA Basketball regular season.

The Bears sped out to 16-8 lead in the first seven and a half minutes of the contest. Edgecombe made a three-pointer with 6:48 before halftime to give Baylor a 28-20 lead before their opponents fought back with a 15-5 run of their own and took the lead for the first time at 35-33 on a jump shot by Trazarien White with 1:31 left before the break. The two went to halftime knotted at 35.

The Bears then started the second half like they did the first with an Edgecombe jumper with 7:04 left giving Baylor its largest lead at 56-45 before TCU rallied.

The two teams were eventually tied at 58 with two seconds left when Robert Wright III was fouled by Vasean Allette on his way to the basket.

Wright III proceeded to make both free throws before Baylor were able to force a turnover and seal the three-point win with a Norchad Omier free throw.

Omier finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds while Wright III had 11 points and seven assists.

Baylor (18-12, 10-9 Big 12) will end their regular season against the Houston Cougars.

Houston (26-4, 18-1 Big 12) are currently ranked third in the country.
