Jamaican forward Kaheim Dixon was once again the hero for Charlton Athletic U21s, scoring a late winner in their 2-1 victory over Watford U21s at Sparrows Lane on Friday afternoon.
The match started with Watford taking the lead through Zavier Massiah-Edwards, who capitalized on a well-threaded pass to slot past Charlton’s Trialist A in goal. However, the young Addicks responded well before halftime when Trialist B’s cross-goal strike was met at the back post by Ollie Hobden, who finished clinically to bring Charlton level.
With the game seemingly heading for a draw, Dixon once again showcased his poise and goal-scoring ability in the 87th minute. A misplaced header from a Watford defender on the edge of the box looped into his path, and the Jamaican international showed superb composure to finish from a tight angle, securing all three points for his side.
The victory provides a morale boost to Charlton U21s ahead of their Premier League Cup round of 16 clash against Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night at Princes Park.
