Defending Jamaica Premier League champions Cavalier FC continued their strong domestic form with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Dunbeholden FC on Sunday at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

Just days after their high-profile clash with Lionel Messi and Inter Miami in the Concacaf Champions Cup, Cavalier returned to league action with a much-changed squad. Captain Richard King and Christopher Ainsworth were both absent as they prepare for international duty, forcing the champions to adjust their lineup. However, the changes had little impact on their performance as Dwayne "Busy" Atkinson stepped up once again, scoring the decisive goal in the 63rd minute.

The win marked Cavalier's 12th of the season, moving them to 48 points, just two points behind fourth-placed Portmore United, who also secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Vere Phoenix. With their sights set on climbing the table, the reigning champions continue to show resilience as they balance domestic and international commitments.

Elsewhere, Tivoli Gardens edged Waterhouse in a thrilling 3-2 encounter, securing an important three points, while Humble Lion battled to a 1-0 win over Harbour View, strengthening their position in the mid-table standings. Molynes United and Chapelton played out a 1-1 draw, leaving both sides frustrated in their push for points.

Meanwhile, Dunbeholden’s struggles continued as they failed to secure a victory for the fourth consecutive match. They remain ninth in the table on 32 points, desperately needing a turnaround in form as the season approaches its climax.
