The Jamaica Women’s Premier League (JWPL) 2025 season kicked off in emphatic fashion on Saturday, with Frazsiers Whip and Los Perfectos delivering commanding victories in the opening round of matches.
Frazsiers Whip, the defending champions, sent a strong message to the rest of the league with a resounding 6-0 victory over UWI FC. Davia Richards starred for the champions, netting a sensational hat-trick, while her teammates capitalized on UWI’s defensive frailties to complete the dominant scoreline.
Los Perfectos also made a powerful statement, dismantling Federal United 6-1 in another lopsided encounter. Andrene Smith was the hero of the match, bagging a hat-trick as her team cruised to a comfortable win on the road.
Elsewhere in the league, the opening weekend saw plenty of goals and drama, with teams battling to early season draws. Real MoBay and Mile Gully played out an entertaining 3-3 thriller, with both teams showing attacking prowess but struggling to hold onto leads. WiFi United and Proven Girls finished deadlocked at 2-2, as did Cavalier and Arnett Gardens, both of whom shared the spoils in another gripping 2-2 encounter.
