Olympic and World Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is known for turning stadiums into her stage — and recently, she reminded everyone why she’s called the Pocket Rocket, this time at her son Zyon’s prep school sports day.
In a now-viral video that has captured the attention of fans and media around the world, including a feature on ESPN’s SportsCenter, Fraser-Pryce emphatically “destroyed” the competition in the annual parents’ race, leaving fellow moms trailing by an almost comical margin.
Ahead of the race, the five-time world 100m champion confidently declared, “Mi a go run hard! Mi a drop out dem gyal ya belly bottom!” — ending the fiery prediction with a hearty laugh.
And true to her word, she took off like a bullet — this time not in a stadium full of international athletes, but on a prep school field surrounded by amused parents, stunned children, and wide-eyed teachers.
Unlike her more relaxed effort two years ago when she jogged to an easy win, this time Fraser-Pryce brought a competitive edge, showing glimpses of the form that made her the third-fastest woman of all time. Reportedly in far better health than she was in 2024, she powered through the short sprint with signature explosiveness and left the crowd gasping — and laughing — at the sheer audacity of the performance.
The moment, light-hearted yet deeply impressive, served as both comic relief and a warning shot to her rivals ahead of the 2025 track season. Jamaicans eager to see Fraser-Pryce back in full flight this year got a taste of what’s to come — and if this parents’ race is any indication, the Pocket Rocket is very much still on the launch pad.
As for the other parents? They were simply outclassed — and will surely be hoping she sits out next year’s edition.
