Rangers sacked Philippe Clement on Sunday, and former Scotland international Barry Ferguson has now taken interim charge.

Barry Ferguson has been appointed as interim Rangers head coach after Philippe Clement's sacking.

Clement was dismissed on Sunday after a 2-0 home defeat to St Mirren left Rangers 13 points behind Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic.

Rangers also crashed out of the Scottish Cup with a shock defeat to second-tier Queen's Park.

Ex-Scotland international Ferguson, who played for Rangers for 10 years across two spells with the club, has now been appointed until the end of the season.

He will be assisted by Neil McCann, Billy Dodds and Allan McGregor.

"We appreciate [Ferguson] and his team stepping into the role at this difficult time," Rangers chief executive Patrick Stewart said.

Ferguson's first match in charge will come against Kilmarnock on Wednesday.
