Midfield prospect Jalmaro Calvin is eager to make his mark as he prepares to represent Jamaica in two international friendlies against Trinidad and Tobago on February 5 and February 9. The 21-year-old Cavaliers SC midfielder, who recently featured in his club's 2-1 victory over Vere United, views this opportunity as a pivotal moment in his career.

Born in Airy Castle, St. Thomas, Calvin spent much of his early life in Antigua, having left Jamaica at the age of 10. He returned at 18 and has since established himself as a key player for Cavaliers SC.

Reflecting on his time in Antigua, Calvin shared, "At first, it was really hard for me. I was young, and I was leaving all my friends behind and had just started to understand life a bit. It was a situation that I just had to adapt to."

Now, on the verge of making his senior international debut, Calvin is grateful for the opportunity given to him by head coach Steve McLaren. "I am really grateful. A big shout-out to the coach for giving me the chance, and I hope for the best," he said.

After participating in his first training session with the national team on Tuesday, Calvin expressed excitement about his integration into the squad. "It was really good. I really liked the training session. I didn’t get to train much because I played a game yesterday (Monday), but I felt the joy in the team, and I am really excited."

Looking ahead to the friendlies against Trinidad and Tobago, Calvin is determined to make a lasting impression. "I have to put my best foot forward because this is a great opportunity for me to move forward with this group. Hopefully, I will see myself with this team in March, so I am just really excited and hoping for the best."
