Reggae Boy Jon Russell continued his excellent goalscoring form from midfield this season with a brace for Barnsley FC in their 4-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers in EFL League One action at Oakwell on Saturday.

Russell’s first goal came 15 minutes into the contest when he collected the ball about 25 yards out from goal and took a few touches before slotting the ball comfortably past Bolton goalkeeper Nathan Baxter from just outside the 18-yard box to make it 1-0.

His second, and his side’s fourth, came four minutes from full time when he latched on to a cross from Adam Phillips to head home from inside the six-yard box.

The 24-year-old now has eight goals and two assists in 36 appearances for Barnsley this season.

The Hounslow-born Russell has made four appearances for the Reggae Boyz, with all coming in 2023.
