Dominican cricketer Tyrone Theophile is reportedly back home in Dominica following recent emergency surgery in Martinique.
The 31-year-old wicketkeeper suffered a fractured skull in an accident that occurred in Roseau on December 25, 2020.
He was flown into Dominica today via air ambulance and is in quarantine at the Princess Margaret Hospital where he continues his recovery, according to media reports.
According to his girlfriend Sherma Dyrample, Theophile is glad to be back home.
“He is in high spirits and looking forward to having a 100 per cent recovery,” she said.
“He is indeed thankful to God and the Government of Dominica and the general public who supported him through this.”
Theophile made his debut for the Windward Islands against Jamaica in Spanish Town in January 2010. Incidentally, his last first-class match before his horrific accident was also against Jamaica at St George's in January 2019.
In his 68 first-class matches he scored 3055 runs at an average of 25.88. He has a top score of 160.
