After five rounds of action, Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago have earned the chance to battle it out at Warner Park on Friday for the right to be called champions of the 2025 CG United Women’s Super50 Cup.

They finished as the top two teams at the end of the league phase of the tournament with 35 and 32 points, respectively, with identical records of four wins and one loss.

The Bajans started the tournament brilliantly with victories over Guyana, the Windward Islands and Jamaica in the first three rounds before suffering their only loss against their opponents on Friday in round four.

They rebounded from that loss with a comfortable win over the Leeward Islands in round five.

Trinidad & Tobago, on the other hand, started their campaign with a 51-run defeat at the hands of defending champions Jamaica before defeating the Leeward Islands, Windward Islands and Barbados in the next three rounds.

Their round five encounter against Guyana ended in a no result.

If either team are to come out on top in Friday’s clash, there are a number of players that will need to step up and produce big performances.

Barbados’ Knight twins, Kyshona and Kycia, have both had very good campaigns with the bat and will need to continue their good play if Barbados are to come out victorious.

Kyshona ended the five rounds second on the leading run scorer chart with 176 runs, trailing only Jamaica’s Rashada Williams (187 runs) while Kycia’s 156 runs placed her fourth.

Captain Aaliyah Alleyne has scored only 77 runs in four innings with a highest score of 57* and there is no better time to come up big than in the final.

For Trinidad & Tobago, their resurgence in the last four rounds was led by their bowling, particularly the spin of captain Karishma Ramharack, Anisa Mohammed, Samara Ramnath and Steffie Soogrim.

Their fourth-round meeting saw Trinidad & Tobago bowl out Barbados for 76 with all 10 wickets falling to spin.

They will be looking to replicate that on Friday with a trophy up for grabs.

The other games on Friday will see Jamaica taking on Guyana in the third-place playoff at Conaree Sports Club and the Windward Islands facing the Leeward Islands in the fifth-place playoff at St. Paul’s Sports Complex.
