Ryan John hits maiden first-class hundred as Volcanoes lead Hurricanes by 315 at stumps on day two at Gros Islet

A fine all-round display from Ryan John and wickets from Gilon Tyson have the Windward Islands Volcanoes in a dominant position against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes after day two of their round four West Indies Championship clash at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet on Thursday.

The Windwards began day two in a strong position at 364-7 off 81 overs with John and Kenneth Dember at the crease on 71 and 18, respectively.

They eventually posted a mammoth 480 all out in 116.3 overs. John carried on to post his maiden first-class hundred before eventually being dismissed for 109 off 178 balls including 11 fours and three sixes while Dember went on to finish 71* off 128 balls, his first first-class fifty, including eight boundaries.

Oshane Thomas finished with 4-66 from 21 overs while Justin Greaves took 3-102 from his 26 overs.

At stumps, the Leewards were reeling at 165-7 off 44 overs, trailing by 315.

Mikyle Louis has led the way, so far, with his 82* off 147 balls including eight fours while Jahmar Hamilton was the next highest scorer with 40 off 66 balls including seven fours.

Pacers Gilon Tyson and Ryan John have combined for all seven wickets with Tyson picking up 4-31 in his 10 overs and John grabbing 3-26 in his 10 overs.
