Shimron Hetmyer’s Gulf Giants secured a tense last-ball win over the MI Emirates in International League T20 (ILT20) action at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

The Giants used all 20 overs to successfully chase down 152, losing eight wickets in the process.

Gerhard Erasmus led the way with 37 while Tom Alsop made 32 at the top of the innings. Shimron Hetmyer made seven.

Fazalhaq Farooqi was, once again, the chief wicket taker for the Emirates with 3-34 from his four overs while Muhammad Rohid and Alzarri Joseph took two wickets, each, in support.

Earlier, the Giants restricted the Emirates to 151-6 from their 20 overs after winning the toss and choosing to bowl first.

Tom Banton made 56 off 39 balls to lead the scoring while Kieron Pollard followed up his 69* in the last game with 34 off 24 balls today.

Akeal Hosein also chipped in with 20* off 11 balls. Captain Nicholas Pooran made just eight.

Daniel Worrall took 2-19 off his four overs for the Giants who now have their second win of the season against four losses to sit fifth in the table.

Despite the loss, the Emirates remain second on six points, now trailing the dominant Desert Vipers by six.
