West Indian hard-hitting left-hander Nicholas Pooran made history during his Lucknow Super Giants 2025 TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) season opening defeat against the Delhi Capitals on Monday.
Pooran made 75 off 30 balls to lead the Super Giants to 209-8 from their 20 overs before the Capitals produced a stunning fightback to reach 211-9 in 19.3 overs after, at one point, being 7-3 in the second over.
Pooran hit six fours and seven sixes in his innings and, in the process, became the fourth member of the illustrious 600 sixes club in T20 cricket, joining fellow West Indians Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell.
Pooran entered the game with 599 sixes and hit seven to take his tally to 606 in 385 career games.
Gayle has a massive lead at the top of the table with 1056 sixes in 463 games. Pollard is second with 908 sixes in 695 matches while Russell is third with 733 in 539 matches.
