Shimron Hetmyer contributed a quick 20* off 11 balls to help the Gulf Giants pull off a comfortable seven-wicket win over the struggling Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in International League T20 (ILT20) action at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

The Giants first restricted the Knight Riders to 123-7 from their 20 overs after winning the toss and choosing to field.

David Willey led the way with 41 off 29 balls as the majority of the Knight Riders batsmen were unable to get going against some smart bowling from the Giants.

Alishan Sharafu was the next best scorer for the Knight Riders with 21* off 13 balls as Chris Jordan and Mark Adair were the main wicket takers in their eight overs between them.

Jordan finished with 2-20 while Adair took 2-25. Daniel Worrall also bowled a crucial four-over spell, conceding just 13 runs while picking up the wicket of Kyle Mayers for one.

The Giants then needed just 17.5 overs to reach 124-3 and secure victory.

Opener Gerhard Erasmus made 47 off 51 balls while Tom Curran and Hetmyer were there at the end. Curran finished 38* off 35 balls.

The win moves the Giants up to third on the points table with eight points, ahead of the Sharjah Warriorz and Dubai Capitals via net run rate while the Knight Riders are on the brink of elimination with six points with just one game to play in the league phase.
