James Vince hit an unbeaten century to help the Sydney Sixers chase down 194 and defeat the Melbourne Stars in Australian Big Bash League action at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday.
The Stars posted 194-9 from their 20 overs after Sixers skipper Moises Henriques won the toss and put them in to bat.
Ben Duckett led the way at the top of the order with 68 off just 29 balls while Glenn Maxwell and captain Marcus Stoinis made 32 and 20, respectively.
Jackson Bird was the chief wicket taker for the Sixers picking up three but was expensive, going for 35 in his three overs.
Todd Murphy and Ben Dwarshuis were both good with the ball as well, taking 2-26 and 2-33 from four overs, respectively.
Akeal Hosein, recently ascending to the number one ranking among T20I bowlers, didn’t have his best day on this occasion with 1-50 from his four overs.
The Sixers then needed just 18.1 overs to reach 198-2 and secure victory.
James Vince hit 12 fours and four sixes on his way to 101* off 58 balls, his sixth hundred in the format.
He got excellent support from opening partner Josh Philipe who made 42 and Jordan Silk who finished 34*.
The Sixers have now won all three of their games so far this season to sit atop the table on six points while the Stars are bottom of the table, yet to record a win in four games.
