Duhaney Park Red Sharks, Liguanea Dragons and Washington Bulls each recorded victories during week two of the Jamaica Rugby League National Club Championships on the weekend.

At the Cedar Valley Academy, Liguanea Dragons had to draw on all their experience to see off Young Crocs Academy in a close encounter.

Michael Pearson was excellent for the winners, amassing 14 points from three tries and a goal. Adrian Hall contributed six points from three goals while the centre/wing duo of Damion Smith and Akeem Kitson each notched a try.

For Young Crocs, there were eight-point hauls from Half-back Dominic Brown and forward Delano Jarrett, while backs Alpachino Mignott and Jordan Martin each scored with a try.

Portmore 48 def. Spanish Town Vikings 24

In the second game at the same location, an 18-point haul from Antonio Baker led Portmore to a surprise 48-24 win over Spanish Town.

Baker’s points came from three tries and three goals while Racheed Pencle was the next top scorer for Portmore with 10 points from two tries and a goal. Meanwhile, Devaughn Stewart and Shemar Nugent each contributed eight points with a try and goal, while debutants Othniel Holness and Maurice Morant contributed each scored a try.

Andre Lee was the standout for Spanish Town with eight points from two tries. Joseph Daley and Shade Whyte each had a try and Stephan Williams added four points from two goals. The Vikings will lose back-row Raheem Sweeny for about two games after he was red-carded for dissent.

In the first of two games played at Up Park Camp, Washington Blvd Bulls defeated West Kingston Hyenas 32-0.

Three players scored eight points each for the Bulls. Oshane Eddie got his from four goals while halfback Ronaldeni Fraser and centre Lawrence Drummond had two tries. Forwards Shaneal Brown and Makhaya Anderson closed out the scoring with a try each. 

Chevaughn Smith of the Bulls will miss between one and five games after picking up a red card for a strike.

The second game featured defending champions Duhaney Park Red Sharks which outscored the JDF eight tries to one as they posted a comfortable win at Up Park Camp.

The winner’s top scorer was centre Adrian Brown with 10 points from five goals. Halfback Jenson Morris continued his good form with eight points from two tries while Kenneth Walker, Fabian Turner, Chevaughn Bailey, Daniel Graham, Ryan Grant, and Daniel Barnett, each had a try.

The JDF got their lone try from debutant Jowayne Forbes and fullback Nicolai Kennedy closed out their scoring with a goal.
