Rugby League Jamaica concluded its U16 High School 13-a-side Championships on Friday, March 21, at Campion College. Defending champions, The Cedar Grove Academy, faced off against Calabar High—the same opponent they defeated in last year’s final.
From start to finish, Calabar dominated the match with tenacious defense and ruthless attacking play. The final score of 42-0 underscored their complete control. Tevez Tulloch, Jahzeel Francis, and Marlon Richards each secured 8 points from two tries, while forward Derone Plummer kicked four goals to amass 8 points as well. Michael Gardener and Antwone Morgan completed the scoring with a try and a goal, respectively.
Commenting on her team’s victory, long-time Calabar manager Janet Walters said, “Our team worked and trained hard this season, and it paid off in the finals. They have been very responsive to Coach Edie’s instructions all season, and it’s pleasing to bring home the title to the Calabar community.”
