Tom Brady insisted there was "no shortcut" to finding his chemistry with Antonio Brown at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brown signed with the Buccaneers last month and is set to make his debut for the team against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

The 32-year-old only played one game for the New England Patriots in 2019, but is back alongside Brady at the Buccaneers (6-2).

Brady, though, said it would take time for his connection with Brown to grow.

"It's been only one game and two weeks practice [together]. Football is a tough sport. It demands a lot out of you physically, mentally [and] emotionally," he said.

"There is no shortcut to getting on the same page. You've just got to put the work in.

"Today was a good start to practice, but it's a long process and we're just going to have to work at it."

Brady, Brown and the Buccaneers face a major test against the Saints, who are 5-2 and have won their past four games over the Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians said Brown would add plenty to the Buccaneers, but also urged patience.

"Just being an explosive player with the ball in his hands. He'll have a role and we'll see how much we can get him taught," he said.

"The first practice will be a walkthrough because we've got a short week coming off Monday night. We basically miss a practice this week on Wednesday because of the short week, so it will be a walkthrough practice and basically all learning."
