Arsenal and Manchester United earned wins in the Women's Super League on Sunday, while Aston Villa moved further clear of danger.
Arsenal and Manchester United edged closer to securing Champions League football with respective Women's Super League wins on Sunday.
In the day's first fixture at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium, United produced a dominant display in a 2-0 victory over Everton, while Arsenal brushed aside bottom club Crystal Palace 4-0.
The two teams are level on points in the table, and know that two more wins from their final four WSL games will seal a spot in Europe's elite competition next year.
United celebrated their 10th win over Everton in their 12th WSL meeting thanks to goals from Dominique Janssen and Grace Clinton.
Everton, however, started the brighter of the two sides and thought they had gone ahead through Katja Snoeijs, but her strike was ruled out for handball.
And the Toffees' good work was undone in the 22nd minute after visiting goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan spilled Ella Toone's free-kick into the path of Janssen.
Marc Skinner's side doubled their advantage two minutes after the break when Clinton steered Leah Galton's cross into the net.
Arsenal, meanwhile, were helped by Beth Mead's brace as they built on their Champions League comeback against Real Madrid.
Mead brilliantly put the Gunners ahead in the 14th minute, crashing a left-footed volley beyond the grasp of Shae Yanez after being picked out by Chloe Kelly.
Arsenal were two in front when Alessia Russo collected Mariona Caldentey's pass before curling the ball into the bottom-left corner.
Kelly's cross towards goal was turned into her own net by Palace captain Allyson Swaby, before Mead notched her second with a fine effort from the right.
Elsewhere, Manchester City bounced back from being knocked out of the Champions League with a win at Brighton in the WSL, despite the Seagulls' late surge.
European qualification looks out of reach for City given United and Arsenal's results on Sunday, but three points keep their faint hopes of a late push into the top three alive.
Kerstin Casparij broke the deadlock in the 37th minute when she tapped home from close range from Mary Fowler's fine cross.
City thought they had put the result beyond doubt when Vivianne Miedema fired home late on, but Brighton substitute Charlize Rule set up a nervy finish.
With four matches left, City remain fourth in the table and are seven points off third-placed United, who they face in the league on May 4, and in the Women's FA Cup semi-finals on April 13.
At the other end of the table, a late own goal by Liverpool's Jenna Clark earned Aston Villa a 2-1 victory that moved them four points clear of Palace.
Marie Hobinger converted a second-half penalty after Ceri Holland was fouled inside the box by Sabrina D'Angelo before Kirsty Hanson levelled 11 minutes later.
And the Villans earned their first win at the sixth attempt under Natalia Arroyo late on, with Ebony Salmon's low centre turned in by the unfortunate Clark.
Tottenham came from behind to end their five-match losing streak in the WSL following a 1-1 draw at Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
Both goals came after the break, with Josefine Rybrink's own-goal putting the Foxes ahead, only for Drew Spence to mark her 50th appearance for Spurs with the leveller.
Data Debrief: Mead reaches half-century
With her brace against Palace, Mead brought up her 50th and 51st WSL goals for Arsenal, moving her on to 68 overall in the competition.
Only Beth England (82) and Miedema (87) have scored more than the England international since the league was founded in 2010.
She also ended the game with team-high totals for chances created (four) and shots (four).
But there was also a special moment for Villa's Arroyo, who got her first victory on the board.
She had lost each of her last five WSL games by an aggregate score of 13-1, with the Villans' win ensuring she would not match Emma Coates with the Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2016 in losing each of her first six matches while also seeing their side net just a single goal.
