Club Sando, Police, Defence Force secure big Boxing Day wins in TTPFL

Boxing Day’s Trinidad and Tobago Premier Football League (TTPFL) 2024/25 action was filled with goals, 32 in six matches to be specific.

Club Sando (five points from four games) were the day’s biggest winners, coming away from the Mahaica Oval with a 7-1 win over Cunupia (no points from four games).

Shervonhez Hamilton scored in the 10th minute to give Club Sando the lead before Aikim Andrews equalized for Cunupia in the 34th.

A Mark Ramdeen goal with five minutes remaining in the first half gave Club Sando a 2-1 lead at halftime and they piled on the goals in the second stanza.

Isaiah Hudson got a pair of goals in the 53rd and 67th minutes before they added three goals in the final 10 minutes of the contest through Keron Cummings (80’), Ezekiel Kesar (82’) and Shackeil Henry (87’).

The second biggest winners on the day were league leaders Defence Force (12 points from four games) who defeated La Horquetta Rangers (one point from four games) 6-2 in the second game of a double header at the Arima Velodrome.

Defence Force fell behind in the 9th minute to a Josiah Edwards goal but soon assumed control and stormed to a 3-1 advantage at halftime as Shaquille Bertrand (11’), Brent Sam (26’) and playmaker Kevin Molino (40’) found the net.

Four minutes into the second half, Defence Force stretched their lead when Sam converted a penalty for his second goal of the contest.

Edwards scored his second of the game to cut the deficit to 4-2 in the 77th minute but Defence Force secured the points with two late strikes from Isaiah Leacock (83’) and Rivaldo Coryat (88’).

The day’s third biggest winners were Police FC (seven points from four games) thanks to a 5-1 win over Prison Service (four points from four games) at the Ken Cook Ground.

Police took the lead 16 minutes into the contest through a Joevin Jones penalty before, nine minutes into the second half, Levin Caballero equalized for Prison Service.

Police went back in front quickly thanks to a Kwesi Allen goal in the 59th minute and went 3-1 up after a goal from Joshua Sitney in the 64th.

Allen’s second goal in the 68th minute and Mickaeel Jem Gordon’s 71st minute strike completed the scoring.

In the day’s other game at the Mahaica Oval, San Juan Jabloteh (four points from four games) produced a comeback 3-1 win over Point Fortin Civic (three points from four games).

Point Fortin took the lead in the 36th minute through Joash Baird before second half strikes from Andell Fraser (54’), Keanu John (64’) and Trevis Nkosi Byron (87’) secured the three points for San Juan Jabloteh.

In the first game at Arima Velodrome, defending champions AC Port of Spain (nine points from four games) snapped Central FC's (nine points from four games) winning streak with a 2-1 victory.

Port of Spain opened the scoring through Haile Beckles in the 13th minute, before Central equalised through a 34th-minute penalty from veteran striker Kevon Woodley.

In the 74th minute, AC Port of Spain clinched their third win of the season when Sedale McLean registered his second goal of the campaign.

The second game at Ken Cook Ground saw Caledonia AIA (nine points from four games) produce two goals in the final five minutes to beat FC Phoenix (six points from four games) 2-1.

Jariel Arthur gave Phoenix the lead in the 17th minute, a lead they held all the way to the 86th minute when Jean-Heim McFee equalized for Caledonia.

McFee was then at it again, scoring his second of th game in the 90th minute to secure the points.
